The Thirst Project
The thirst project is a movement of High School and College students that exit to explain people about the
clean water crisis and bring solutions to this problem. This organization started 5 years ago by just a photography
which showed how some people suffered because don't have clean water. They made some research about this
problem and started trying to change this problem by raising money. Some places don't have access to clean water
and this problem is killing more than 4,100 children die every day cause of diseases caused by drinking dirty water.
One of this diseases is called water-borne, these disease and many more have killed over 2.2 million people. Women
and children walk miles just to get water even though its killing them because all the water they are drinking is
contaminated. Many children are not receiving an education because they need to go get water every single day. This
has to change, but this organization needs help.
The solution to this problem is clean water. We need to get money to build a freshwater well and in order to build this
money is needed and also a pump needs to be build underground in order to reach the clean water. The pump would be
100-300 ft long underground and this would take so much time and a lot of money. One of the places that are being helped
by this organization is Swaziland. Swaziland is a small country in Southern Africa. This country is one of the countries that
needs help immediately and the organization needs money to make their dream of having cleaning water come true.
After hearing one member talk about the problems and what they are working on, my view on this crisis changed. I felt
really bad and wanted to help in some way. I didn't have time to go outside my house and do a fund raising but I did talk
about this to my parents, I explained them everything and talk about what I learned during the presentation. I also showed them
some pictures from The Thirst Project website, they understood and wanted to help the association too. They decided to
collaborate by giving money and help this people . It was still a good experienced.
